About Us
In March of 2009, a dynamic group of women lead by Donna Sounders and Elan Kaney, the then Co-Chairs of the Women's Initiative of Voluisa, launch the Women's Initiative of Flager! For the next three years Sandy Vecchi would serve as the Chair woman. As part of a growing network of strong, intellegent women, WIF is engaging and invloving women of all ages and backgrounds to find solutions that create measurable change in the Flagler community and impact issues that matter the most to women and children.
Our mission: to creat positive, measureable, long-term change in the lives of women and children by focusing on root causes and pooling resources to increase our impact!
The funds raised through the WI of Flagler County go to help women and children above and beyond the normal activities of the United Way with 80% of its funds being allocated by the WI to support Flagler County programs and 20% going to the United Way Community Funds which are then allocated out to the United Way's partner agencies.

What We Do
The Flagler County WI is dedicated to raising funds, both monetary and in-kind, that go back into the Flagler Community to help support causes that matter most to women. In 2011 all funds raised throughout the year went to the Flagler Mobile Benefit Program. This program was launched for the sole purpose of providing better access over $11 million dollars of annual unclaimed federal benefits available to individuals of need in our Flagler Community.
In 2012 WIF is changing things up a bit. All proceeds from WIF fundraising events will be distributed back into the Flagler community in the form of grants, however the funds raised at the annual WIF Signature High Tea will, this year, be awarded to Project GRACE.
Project GRACE recognizes Flagler County’s Daytona North Community’s need for a reliable water source and Project GRACE’s proposed solution to this issue is to drill a well, connected to a suitable water treatment system, which would serve as a central distribution point for potable water to the community.
